What Happens If a Root Canal Is Infected?

/

Within the roots of our teeth are hollow spaces called root canals. While we don't often think of them, breakage or decay can drastically change that reality. Once the teeth have been compromised, the pulp inside our root canals can become infected. Fortunately, it's a very treatable condition, and our compassionate dentist is grateful for the opportunity to help you.

What Should I Know About Paying for Root Canal Treatment?

Insurance Coverage

To be fully transparent, our New Haven team does not accept insurance. We see this as an advantage for patients because it allows us to provide more customizable and high-quality service without red tape or restrictions. Our focus on quality also results in more detailed and lifelike restorations.

Investing in the Best

Choosing Dr. Lerch over another dental professional, like an endodontist, is a direct investment in your aesthetic results. That's because she's accredited with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. As New England's only cosmetic dentist with the achievement, she has a reputation for stunning results. Plus, she can conduct implant treatment in the rare case your tooth cannot be saved.

Financing Options

You shouldn't have to sacrifice your health over the cost of root canal treatment. By accepting financing, we make it easier for you to find effective, lasting results, even if you're on a strict budget.

Worried about an infection in your root canals? The best thing a New Haven patient can do is visit Dr. Lerch for safe, thorough root canal therapy. Generally, you can expect the experience to go like this:
When you notice tooth pain, your first instinct should always be to seek a dentist or endodontist.
When you notice tooth pain, your first instinct should always be to seek a dentist or endodontist.

Root Canal Consultation

Once you arrive at our New Haven, CT, dental office, Dr. Lerch will assess your smile and capture X-rays. If her inspection or the X-rays reveal that the pulp in your root canal is infected with bacteria, she'll start planning your treatment.

Preventing Discomfort

A common question we receive from patients is: "Will I be comfortable during my root canal?" We're happy to say that you will be, thanks to dental anesthetic.

Pulp Access

To clean out the bacteria, Dr. Lerch will safely create a small hole in your affected tooth, giving her root canal access.

Pulp Cleaning

After that, she will focus on taking out the pulp and disinfecting your root canals. Then, it's time to replace the pulp with new material to stabilize the interior.

Tooth Fortification

After your root canal has been treated, it will need a filling or crown. Dr. Lerch will ensure your tooth is strong and beautiful. Our dentist can even secure a crown immediately following your root canal.

Wondering What Crown Placement Looks Like?

Crafted with lifelike materials like IPS e.max® and zirconia, our crowns are made to last. Each is completely custom too. As you can see, the crown will fully protect your treated tooth, so that you can get back to your daily life.

Offering Effective Care

Even for the Hardest Root Canal Cases

You can rest assured that we will always work hard to treat your tooth. It may also help to know that even in event of tooth loss or removal, our New Haven team can find an effective solution.

Dr. Lerch can insert a dental implant in-house, something New Haven endodontists may not be able to complete. Dental implants can be an excellent long-term investment in your oral health and appearance because they can last for a lifetime.

Paired with a crown and abutment, an implant is completely discreet—it also offers unparalleled functionality and stability for your prosthetic.
